Facing The Music

SPC "The Body" Week #3

Yeah this Self Portrait Challenge thing gets more terrifying each week! Ha-ha, actually I'm pushing myself a little more each time, trying to face the things I have always considered impossible to face.

This week, my nose. I don't abhor my nose, but I don't like it. I'm not contemplating surgery, but I do say mean things about the shape and size of my nose. That's not something I am proud of, I want to stop complaining about my nose (maybe when my purple bracelet gets here that will help)...

I placed a challenge on myself through this months "The Body" theme on SPC, to really put my camera in my face (yeah, pun intended) and share the good, the bad, and the ugly. All of this in hopes that I will see and become more comfortable in my own skin and even my not-so-button nose.

So about this photo...I really like it, I think my nose is actually better in this picture than in real life. LOL I love the light, it's almost "rock star" but still really natural. I wanted to show something very close and to feel like I have literally opened up to the camera without restraint or pose. Once again I've captured more of my freckles, I always like those, not sure why, but I do.

I don't know what your complaining about girl, I think you have a cute nose! Of course I am guilty of saying things about my own nose too;) Say it with me "God made our noses and they are great!"

God made our noses and they are great! ;o)

Thanks Lisa, I'm purging myself of complaining so this was my "hoo-rah" post about my nose, I'll be good now. LOL

WOW, that took guts!!

You know what I love? I love how you are using this challenge to better yourself as a person, as you; not just as a mom, photographer, etc. The whole "take a picture of myself every week" idea could really get narcistic; you aren't letting it go there, but rather using it as a tool. I love that!

Great shot by the way ;o)

Well, I am a button nose girl, and when I have a boogie, everyone can see it. So be glad that you can't see your boogies...

Thank goodness we all have different and uniquely own noses. Can you imagine how dull life would be if we all looked the same! The challenge...to be completely happy with what we got...that is the hard part. You wouldn't be you with out it...whatever it is. I have always joked I have a "5-head" because my forhead is so big. oh, well. My little girl Ella has a cleft chin (a butt chin (smile)) and it is my absolutley favorite thing on her. I hope she sees it as beautiful too when she grows up. Let's make our mamma's proud and love the way we look!

Amelia I love this shot of you! You are so brave to post it, I know it would be really tough for me to take a close up and post it. I love the whole feeling behind it, you're so amazing. Super Rock Star Goddess!

I think your nose is awesome, love the freckles too! Let's face it girl, you got some great genetics working 24/7 for you. :)

Daria (can't wait to see ya on Friday freckles) :)

Amelia! Great shot! The photo is great! And you are both brave and cute! :)

I wouldn't take one of my nose, and I feel the same way you do, but won't take a photo like that! It turned out fantastic!!

Nice nose...looks like my sister's actually, how weird is that? :D Chew on this...I've been envious of my sister's "better" nose (than mine) for decades. Even mentioned it this past week. And here you've got my sister's nose and haven't appreciated it, LOL. Now I wonder who's out there secretly coveting MY nose???

Your nose is fabulous! I really dig this photo and you have a beautiful face!

My nose is my insecurity (or among the many) too. But, really, does anyone LOVE their nose? I mean, aren't noses just kind of a funny looking critter? I can't say I've ever looked at someone and said to myself, "Wow, now THAT was an amazing nose. Gotta get me one of those." :-)
